Tucepi, as whole central Dalmatia are marked with very favourable climate. Temperature in January includes isotherm of 7°c and 8°c, in area with Mediterranean climate; pleasant and mostly humid winter and dry, hot and sunny summer. This area is one of sunnier parts of central and north Mediterranean, marked with bright sky, with approximately 2700 sunny hours per annum, and with big daily average of 7, 3 sunny hours per day. In summer, it averages out 11,3 hours, 7,4 in spring, 6,3 in fall and 4,2 hours in winter. This high average of sunny time affects on relatively high yearly and daily temperature of air. Nearly 7,0°c in mid January makes this area the hottiest part of Mediterranean north coast. Yearly, Tucepi have around 46 days in which the air temperature is higher than 30°c, and only 7 days with temperature under 0°c.
This suitable climate and flow of warm sea has influence on high sea temperature, with July?s average of 25,6°c, and yearly average amounts 15°c. Average monthly temperature: local and periodical (seasonal) wind also keeps favorable climate. Among them, the most prominent are local wind "jugo" (south-east wind) and "bura" (north-east wind), which are present during the whole year, but are especially stressed during winter, when their bioclimatic activity is at its peak. In early spring and summer, characteristic wind is "maestral" which is important for thermoregular activity, because that sea wind gives suitable coldness. Maestral continues with night breeze from north , which cools overheated land. Rainfalls of this area also have Mediterranean characteristics. It amounts only 809 mm per annum, but they are fairly dispersed, so that springs and especially summers are mostly dry, while most of rain falls during fall and winter seasons. Snow is rather rear fenomenon. |
